Job Overview:

We are looking for a motivated individual with experience in accounting and business to support the VS Accounting Division. This position offers a variety of projects from corporate tax returns to small business support, providing an interesting and diverse career opportunity.  

Responsibilities may include:

  •       Management and business consulting services
  •       Corporate, year-end preparation
  •       Financial statement preparation
  •       Project management
  •       Personal and corporate tax planning and consulting
  •       Provide support to bookkeepers on staff
  •       Some bookkeeping may be required to keep knowledge current
  •       Accept new client inquiries 
  •       Maintain staff performance by coaching and counseling; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  •       Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  •       Monitor VS Accounting activity and be familiar with clients and projects
  •       Correspond with clients where necessary
  •       Design and implement policies by establishing standards and procedures; measure results against standards; making necessary adjustments
  •       Keep management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports as required; summarizing information and identifying trends

Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  •       Professional Accounting designation preferred
  •       Knowledge of Simply Accounting, Sage 300, Sage 100, Sage 50, Quickbooks, QBO and POS systems
  •       Previous experience in Caseware/CaseView, CCH Engagement or TaxPrep computer programs 
  •       Industry experience
  •       Management experience
  •       Understanding of business operations
  •       Critical Thinking
  •       Bilingual is an asset
  •       Travel may be required 

Training and Support

  •       Support and training program will be implemented based on the specific individual needs.

Job Description:

After 20 years in business, VS Group continues to grow. At the head office in North Bay, we are currently looking to hire a Manager of Accounting Services with the management experience, technical skills, customer service and bookkeeping knowledge to assist our corporate clients. 

You should have the ability to work under pressure but to prioritise and lead the team into a set direction and forecast workload management. You will be working directly with our clients, providing support with their accounting needs. You will also be responsible for ensuring your deadlines are met and work has been completed within predetermined time frames. You will implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency where required. You will attend on occasion, staff, training and other meetings.

To thrive in this role, you'll need to appreciate the variety of work, work independently, be technically savvy, communicate well and be well organised. We are looking for an individual with excellent customer service skills, the right interpersonal skills and the motivation to stay on top of industry specific software. You should have the ability to prioritize and be well organized. 

You will be working directly with our clients, providing support with their bookkeeping and accounting needs. You will recommend and assist with implementing software changes to improve operational efficiency where required. This position will require ongoing software training and certification (arranged by VS Group) as well as internal staff training and professional development. Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
