Job Overview:

The Licensed Corporate Paralegal will assist with corporate and small business legal matters that range from paperwork to court proceedings. Tasks may include; updating company files, preparing legal contracts, reviewing documents, and giving legal assistance, executive summaries and compliance issues.

  • Residential Tenancies Act
  • Small Claims
  • Collections
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Municipal By-laws
  • Mediation
  • Commissioner for taking Affidavits and Oaths

Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Sufficient Computer Skills including the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Customer service experience
  • Applicable paralegal diploma, university degree or certification
  • Must be licensed or obtaining their license
  • Red Seal Certification
  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, maturity and good judgment
  • Experience is an asset
  • Bilingual is an asset

This position will be considered an independent contractor who will be supported by VS Group and work with our clients as well as the company directly when required.

Job Description:

After 20 years in business, VS Group continues to grow. Within our head office in North Bay, we are currently looking to hire a Licensed Corporate Paralegal with technical skills, experience and interpersonal skills to assist with projects within the company

The position may include corporate litigation procedures and other specific business legal needs such as attending corporate meetings, prepare corporate resolutions, setting up corporations, log board minutes, and at times other similar corporate items such as finance, collections, small claims, bankruptcy, securities, trademarks, patents, and other similar issues.

To thrive in this role, candidates must work well under pressure, conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and must be extremely accurate, and detailed in their paperwork. Other skills may include computer skills, a good working knowledge of standard office technology and equipment, and general office procedures. Bilingualism is definitely an asset as our clients correspond in both French and English.
